Apps crashing and all sorts of problems

Hope someone can help me sort this out. Facebook, Google and other apps crashing and phone getting hot very quickly and battery running down much faster than usual (15% in half an hour and no apps used just one brief phone call).

It started yesterday (22/6/2017) my phone just started acting strange. Several apps wouldn't open or crashed moments after opening, this happened with games, Facebook and diagnostics. Then the phone came out of stand by on its own and then restarted several times. I switched the phone off and turned it back on and it seemed okay for about 15 mins. Then crashed again while I tried to use Google. I have checked diagnostic and there are 9 system incidents (from yesterday and today) and 49 applications not responding in the last 10 days. The Lollipop system UI has stopped responding 8 times. I have checked and my system seems up to date (Android version 5.1.1 and software version 14.6.A.1.236). I haven't installed any new apps recently. What is the problem and what do I do to sort this out? Thanks for any advice.

yeah, i though of posting it here, since when i checked the google play store page, therewhere a lot of xperia users with the same issue. thanks anyways

Indeed, the latest facebook app and messenger created issues, but it will be up to facebook to address this issues, make sure to contact them.

Yep, since today after Facebook more then a month ago. Facebook Messenger keeps blinking and restarting. So sad

Same with my Z1, FB app caused numerous crashes and restarts from June update, resolved by uninstalling app and using clunkier mobile Web access. It seems now since messenger updated a few days ago, it too will not open. Requires app data to be cleared and to re sign in each time you want to use it.  What is going on here? It seems to only affect my two Z1 phones. Similar vintage HTC budget phone working fine?

Is there a fix available?

Same to me so sad im using fb lite amd messenger lite as alternative bit features are limited since they are both lite

Same Problem with my Xperia Z ultra

This is the excact problem with my Xperia Z  Ultra, same error then my phone automatically restarts and  somehow frozen in the homescreen

This save me money, was planning to do this, i have contacted sony and said that it "software problem" but i uninstalled FB and never touch the app again

It would be really nice, if Sony would start to deal with this problem. Messenger is starting to collapse also, although still somehow functional. Z1c still great device. No need for upgrade, but this is annoying..

Got tired of waiting for FB or Sony to try to resolve the problem.  I have installed messenger Lite and Face Lite.  Both seem to work without issue.  Not sure how secure they are as they appear to be not developed by Facebook.
