I've had my Z1 for approximately 2 weeks now and I've just gone to take a picture and it's sitting on a black screen for about 6 seconds and then popping up a box "Error! Camera not available!" After having this phone for such a short period of time, and the camera being the main selling point of the phone I'm somewhat dissapointed that I'm having issues already. Any suggestions on what might be causing this issue? Or anybody else having this issue/had this issue and knows of a fix? Last thing I want is to be stuck with a phone that has no camera for a 2 year contract when the entire reason for getting a new phone was to double as a camera for the start of Uni... Already had one night worth of pictures missed now because of this let down...

I see that this problem is still not fixed
I got my M4 Aqua today and I really don't want to get rid of it right away
Any solutions found about the front camera error or do I really have to get a new device ?
And will there be any software updates that will fix the current camera issue, and when ?
Thanks
Hi @Teisa123,
I'm sorry to hear this.
I recommend that you test your phone in safe mode, in case this is caused by a third party app. These are disabled in while safe mode. If that doesn't help you should perform a software repair using Xperia Companion.
Greetings,
I apologize for reviving this old thread, but I have pretty much the same problem, "Camera unfortunately stoped working", without any black screens, the error message shows up the moment I try starting the camera.
What I have tried so far:
-Repairing with PC Companion
-Disabling/enabling, erasing cache, data for Camera app in Settings > Apps > ....
-Disabling/enabling Camera in Safe mode
-Trying another 3rd party camera apps from the app store
-Repairing few more times
-Factory reset from the phone menu
When the problem occured? After repairing the phone again with the PC Companion (no error messages have popped, the phone was charged and judging by the PC Companion the repair was "successful"). Why it was repaired? Simply had to clear everything from it, without leaving any apps, settings, etc.
I already tried clearing the data and cache but its not working. This is my first time having this problem.please help me.
Hi @Dedel, sorry to hear this.
I recommend that you perform a software repair using Xperia Companion as the next step. If that doesn't help then you should contact your Local support team for information how you can get your device examined by an authorised service center.
Hello XPERIA peers.
Solution is right here, tested on the latest model Z3v and should work on all models of XPERIA and similar Sony Device FirmWare proDuct$
Reset your ROTATION SETTINGS, via native/stock Rotation Options or your 3RD party Rotation App.
I did clean all cached processes, and there was zero difference.
I use a 3rd party app to FORCE AUTOROTATION, and simply deactivated the FORCE AUTO and reset the stock Rotation settings.
Likely it's in the firmware bindings and there is some crossed code communication between the accelerometer function and the camera settings.
my sony xperia phone camera has been working well but all of a sudden I started getting the error message each time I tried to open it. What could be the cause.
