Hope someone can help me sort this out. Facebook, Google and other apps crashing and phone getting hot very quickly and battery running down much faster than usual (15% in half an hour and no apps used just one brief phone call).
It started yesterday (22/6/2017) my phone just started acting strange. Several apps wouldn't open or crashed moments after opening, this happened with games, Facebook and diagnostics. Then the phone came out of stand by on its own and then restarted several times. I switched the phone off and turned it back on and it seemed okay for about 15 mins. Then crashed again while I tried to use Google. I have checked diagnostic and there are 9 system incidents (from yesterday and today) and 49 applications not responding in the last 10 days. The Lollipop system UI has stopped responding 8 times. I have checked and my system seems up to date (Android version 5.1.1 and software version 14.6.A.1.236). I haven't installed any new apps recently. What is the problem and what do I do to sort this out? Thanks for any advice.
Thank you. I did uninstall facebook and the problem seems to be solved.
Hope Sony can identify what went wrong and correct with a fix for facebook.
I understand but why does a Samsung with same Android version nog crash after the Facebook updaten?
just because an app doesn't have issues with a phone it doesn't mean that it won't have issues with other phones running the same Android version, its up to the app developers or game developers to find this bugs and fix them.
@ulivooly:
Same problem and same solution seems to work. I would not be so sure this is app problem only. Basically the phone ceases to work as it should, even Even the test menu (*#*#7378423#*#*) wouldn't work. OS should be protecting itself, and it was utterly unable to do so here. Especially when it doesn't show what's running that's an issue.
The latest Facebook update is causing a problem for sure.
Performed a factory reset - the Facebook app that come with the phone works.
As soon as I update it - the problems occur.
Yep. It's unbelievable. The cause of the problem is Facebook App. After deleting the app, phones becomes normal. I tried it on two devices, crashes have gone.
Also you can read many angry messages of Xperia users on Google Play Market in Facebook App comments.
I had this issue since last Friday and thanks to these tips I finally got rid of this annoying bug by deleting facebook application.
Now lets wait for a solution from Sony side so the app can be used without crashing your phone!
Cheers for the solution guys!
Something has gone radically wrong with my Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. It's been on Lollipop for quite a while now, but now it's repeatedly restarting. It crashes after about 3 minutes of up time even if I do absolutely nothing on it. This has happened once before, but it cleared after a while, but now it won't stop restarting.
It may be a red herring, but there is a major problem with the FaceBook app for Android right now. It crashes and has to be repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled. I uninstalled the last two apps I installed on the phone (Facebook & Opera apps) and the phone seems to be happier for now.
What can I do to stop this?
This never happened when it was on Kitkat, but Lollipop has been a nightmare.
