Auto Delete text (SMS) messages option?

Is there any way to set up a auto delete option? My previous phone allowed me to set up how many messages I wanted to save, then would delete. Sadly, the Z1 only seems to delete the whole conversation, or you have to go through & pick each message.

Any help with this matter would be great!

Thanks

Not with the preloaded messaging app, check the playstore there should be an option to do so

Thanks for the reply. This seems like such a simple oversight... I love the phone... But man... So many of these "simple" omissions are starting to make me regret this purchase Slightly_frowning_Face

That's standard on Android (not having that feature) what was your last phone?

I previously had a Galaxy SSI. I really like this Z1... But it's starting to look like a root might be in order, (I've never done this before) to correct a number of other issues I'm having trouble dealing with... I should save those for another thread.

As far as correcting the auto-delete SMS feature... Any suggestions as to what app? Do I have to replace to whole OE SMS? (I'd rather not).

Thanks

Just download another messaging app that does have that option then disable the current messaging app, if you want to root its not that hard if you have 4.2, if you have 4.3 the only method as of right now is by unlocking the bootloader, I'll double check if I can find a messaging app that will allow you to do that
