Android 6.0.1 update unable to format SD card as internal memory can't move app to SD card

I just updated to Android 6.0.1 last night and I realized many things has changed. I can't access my apps store on the SD card from Android 5.1.1. I was able to move the apps to the SD card on 5.1.1 to free up some internal memory. The Marshmallow update supposed to have a better feature. It can mount the SD as internal memory provided I have to formated as internal memory. I bee playing around with my phone all day and I realized on the Sony release, they do not have this feature. I been YouTubeing around and found that within 6.0.1 in the settings /storage/SD card sub-menu, there should be 3 options. Eject, Format, and Format to internal memory. That's what I'm missing. Also if u insert the SD card for the first time, it should pop up a notification asking you what to do with the SD card. It didn't ask me. This is a known feature with marshmallow. My phone only have 16g, it won't hold all my apps, that was the reason why I move some apps to SD on Android 5.1.1. So what's going on?

I also factory reset my phone and format my SD again on my computer, it still don't work. It only treats it as a portable storage.

This is friggin BS!!! Just like previous users, I went out to buy a larger micro SD card for my z3, popped it in to adopt as internal memory and sure enough it didn't work.....only to find out that the IDIOTS at Sony disabled this feature on marshmallow although I clearly remember the option popping up when I configured my old micro SD.

When I bought the z3 it was top-of-the-line, just available on the market. But it's stupidity like this decision that'll make me opt for an iPhone next time. What good is 16gb internal memory now, especially when you have to transfer apps individually over to the external SD (partial) only to have them revert to internal whenever there's an update?? And when you do run out of space, you can't do a batch update, ie "Update All," either!!

Seriously, I'm so mad right now.

I bet you any money that Sony managers, directors and execs don't even use Xperias for their personal devices. Otherwise, how could they let this happen?

Please Sony i need help , my phone cant read my SD card , after a cople of days after i updatet to android 6.0 my M4 aqua cant read the SD card .. I need it so much i have just 6,90 Gb space i buyed me a 32 Gb SD card i searched 24 hours on my pc for a downgrade and i camt find something.

Sony, even if we use the newest SD cards with fastest data transfer rate like 48mB/s it won't work? I'd like so much if this feature "format as internal" were available on my phone. I'd rather to check if it would work for me besides you decide for us costumers.

Sony should let the users choose about quit THE MAIN FEATURES of the software.

i dónt want this phone to play fast games, i only want a lot of spotify playlist in local storage.

I understand that micro SD card can't be used as internal storage anymore ... But then you should start selling phones with more internal memory, because 32 GB is really very few. I would pay much more money to get 128 or 256 with full speed than for the 32 or 64 base model. I have a Z5 premium and I have everything except apps on SD card (movies, music, etc.), but it keeps telling me that I have more tha 75% used. And I am sick of it. I would buy a new XZ for example, if it had at least 64GB.

Unfortunately that's what we all have to live with. as for you, having a 32G device is much, much better then most of us having a 16G. Actually a 32G device is the really the norm for now. As for you, have a 32G + the SD card is an advantage over the iPhone and some Samsung devices where their nagive is only 32G or even a 64G for that matter without SD slots. However, with that said, if you are large apps, like huge games on your phone, it's going to fill up very quickly. It's very unfortunate why Sony choose to go there route, but I see a lot of companies are doing the same as well. I came to accept the facts that my storage are limited, so I got rid of all my unnecessary or not so frequient use apps and still ok. 

You can still move apps to SD though. that of course depends on the individual primission of the app.  if allows, you can manually transfer that in the app setting. However once the app is updated, you have to manually move it again. it's a pain, but it's a workaround. Don't stress yourself, even if you go out an buy another brand phone, you'll probably run into the same issue. good luck

Well, I was planning to buy another Sony phone when it came time to replace my Z3c, but after the decision to deliberetly cripple the phone on  Android 6.0 you can forget that lol.

Hello sony I love your z5 smartphone but with this new update I will not let me use my sd card at all the sd card is working because I put it into my laptop last night to transfer all my vids music and photos so I did not lose them now when I put it back in the z5 its saying it is corrupted so I tryed to format it on the phone but it still will not work can u help me plz

pure stupidity. i was a sony fan for long time and never wanted to change. was following k310,k608,k750,acro s, Z ultra (all time favorite), now XA Ultra. With this option not being catered im thinking of moviing out of sony. If sony can decide to opt out most required functions, i suggest sony to think of expanding internal memory for the same price. with stupid useles stock apps installed which we cant uninstall and with only 3,4 other required apps installed. im running internal memory with 0 bytes and thats having all media stored on external memory. im stuck with apps unable being updated with lack of internal storage. Give us the store on SD card option or expand internal memory in double for same cost
