I bought an Experia Z2 Tablet a couple years ago because I planned on needing a tablet but my situation didn't warrant it after I bought it so it got forgotten in it's shipping box. Recently though I decided to finally unpack it and get it running. No surprise though, it was loaded with Android 4.XX. An ok version but with today's newer apps and software in shows it's age. So I was hoping it would shortly do an OTA update and get it eventually to Android 6.0 which Sony indicates was rolled out for the Z2 Tablet about a year ago. So far, no update - only a frustrating slow and stalling out of date OS. I understand a manual update can be done (not the forced on you can request on the device) by downloading several Windows or Apple (no Linux support) apps to assist in downloading and flash installing 6.0 myself. Just wondering what would be best to do with this "New" dysfunctional tablet? Wait for an OTA update, update it manually, or forget the whole thing and sell it on eBay - never to buy another Sony tablet that won't update a year after release of an upgrade release?

Thank you for showing me this @mattdt, it appears my information is out of date. I will make sure I update it.
So it seems it is available, but the information I mentioned earlier is still valid, unfortunately we cannot confirm exactly when you will be getting a particular update. I recommend you use Xperia Companion to look for the updates.

Hi @mattdt, welcome to the community.
As @nolramlb mentioned the Z2 Tablet doesn't support Android 6.0, but if you are not receiving the update to 5.1.1 OTA, you may wish to connect your tablet to a computer with Xperia Companion installed and check for updates there.
Software updates are released at different times depending on the operator, market, region or country. Therefore, we cannot give you an exact date for when a specific update will be available for your device. In addition, network operators and specific markets may choose not to avail of the updates for specific models.

But according to this: http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/xperiaz2tablet/kb/80193074525e2538015404fa9ee6007fea/
an update has been made available, I believe since about a year ago, to 6.0 for the listed devices which included the Z2 Tablet. Was the update never actually made available?

Thank you for the information Cameron. I was getting the information about 6.0 for the Z2 from this Sony support page:

I've been looking into using Sony Companion to get whatever update is actually available but I have a Linux PC environment so will need to get on a Windows box to complete. Ever hear of any Linux versions or hacks to run Companion on Linux? I use the Ubuntu distro.

Thanks. I'll download Experia Companion and get it installed on Windows. Are there any other software downloads I may need? Thanks again.
