My Sony TV KDL-32WD755 creates a .bin video format when recording PVR. How do I change that to another more familiar video file?
I'm sorry but even if you find a way to convert it they are usually encrypted so you would not be able to view it outside from your tv
That, in my opinion, is nonsense.
Hi @Hazl113,
it is not nonsense, there is copyright and there are licencing agreements to which Sony has to adhere to which you would bypass if that were possible.
There are devices which can do that, but they are not sold by Sony.

Yes, nonsense. Your Sony TV stops working, you have to buy another Sony, and you can't watch it on another Sony TV.
It has been a long time since I deal with it
but if they didn't change the logic in newer models the format used is still the original one broadcasted (once it was mpeg2 now it should be mpeg4) just scrambled in order to encrypt it.
Since you succeeded in listing the files (as far as I can remember it was not an easy task at the time since the file system was not supported natively by windows) you can try by yourself just changing the extension of the file. But it won't work. Even if you don't swap the TV but just change the motherboard it won't work. You can complain how much you like in this community but this is the way it works. On any TV brand that still support PVR features.
