$ony are a bunch of liars. I was sold my KD-49XF9005 by a $ony rep in my local John Lewis when I went in to buy another Samsung QLED on the basis a software update was due to add Apple AirPlay. To date no such update has ever arrived. In fact updates never install correctly on the TV and only when I do them manually by USB. The TV crashes constantly and I lose the BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds apps constantly requiring a full factory reset which then takes about an hour to set up again with Netflix etc… support from $ony has been non existent and is the last product I will be buying from them. Back to Samsung next time.
Now they have the ***** cheek to send me this email to see how I’m enjoying AirPlay ***** And we can’t get any of the other UK terrestrial apps ITV Hub, All4, MY5 etc which is a complete sham! ***** hate Sony
So disappointed that I am unable to get Apple AirPlay on my sony TV KD-55XE8596 It is only a four years old!! I feel it should be available as an up-date. I've tried everything suggested to try and enable screen mirroring from my iPhone and it wont work...it just says 'connection has been made to an un-supported device'!!
I am also not happy that I am unable to use the USB HDD recording functionality with YouView enabled, but thats another story!
Hi StuBarnes, that's on Jhon lewis. But regarding the catch up service, it's been renamed after the update, is this the problem preventing you from finding it? If not elaborate more please so we can help
@HannahEd01 it was actually a Sony representative in the John Lewis store hence having more faith in what they were saying.. So I lost BBC IPlayer and BBC Sounds apps again last week resolved by another factory reset and low and behold they have been deleted again from the installed apps page today. This is just unacceptable. What have the other UK terrestrial catch up service apps been renamed to? When I do a factory reset I can see All4, ITVHub and My5 and after a short period they disappear. The YouView App says I need an aerial but I don’t have one as I’m a cable user (Virgin Media).
Hey HannahEd01, that was the number on the box. But I’m guessing you want to see it in this format,
Device Name : Sony XR-55A80J
Model Number : BRAVIA 4K VH2
Android TV OS Version : 10
Android Security Patch Level : 1 May 2021
Kernel Version : 4.19.75
it is set to notify me of software updates and as far as I can see it’s up to date.
Any help would be greatly received. I’ve followed the instructions on screen and on the video that these comments are linked to, both the tv and my phone which I want to cast from are on the same network, but just never seems to accept the code.
Hi SuttieB, I just noticed that you're using Virgin, try removing the aerial from the box and connect it to the TV directly, tune once and I don't think you'll ever have any issues.
