Yesterday I read, left it in stand-by, reopened a couple of hours later, stard reading but, when I wanted to chenge page it was locked. Nothing happend.
I left it like that all night and it doesn't go in standby,. it stays as it is, locked.
I tried to connect it to the computer but it doessn't happen anything (the computer doesn't see it) and to electricity but NO THING.
I tried with the RESET button but nothing.
What's going on?????? I have been using it for 7 month and it has always been perfect!
Thanks a lot

I have had this problem with my PRS 505 when you either read in the bath or go on holiday some where humid. The change in humidity from outdoors to an air conditioned hotel means that, I think, the reader gets damp inside. If you put in some where warm for a few days to dry out it does work again. This also happened to a camera we had when we went on holiday to mexico in July (very humid). Very frustrating on a long haul holiday with nothing to read!
I have also tried backing up all content and performing a hard reset- this worked for a few months but I can only do this at home.
Have now upgraded to a PRS 650,and I don't read in the bath, not been on holiday with it yet.
Hope this helps.

I don't suppose the battery was totally discharged by any chance, was it ?
And if you recharged with the USB, it may not have functioned correctly, it has happened.
And I presume you tried/did a "soft" reset - a full reset would clear the memory of all books.
But, if the thing won't respond at all, you won't be able to do either..........
If it comes down to faulty device/battery, the retailer is always your first port of call, as your contract is with them, not the manufacturer - the sellers are the one's who should sort it out if it goes wrong, especially within standard warranty period - but go by the Sale of Goods Act, which is a "reasonable time", and the requirement that your purchase must be fit for purpose.
Hope this is a bit of a help, but I'll ask around, 'cos this sounds odd enough to also be something simple !....

Hi Alice - General opinion is it's the battery that may be duff, as I very hesitantly suggested.
Here's a selection of replies to me (these 3 guys know a lot more than I ever will !), and if the charging doesn't work, do get onto Sony - OR perhaps someone from Sony will help on here, like specialist convergence ? :-
1) If the power is interrupted or lost, the page will stay the same on an e-Ink screen. I agree the battery might have died suddenly and that charging it will bring it back, however, you will probably have to replace the internal battery shortly. The unit may have a defect and should still be under warranty, I would contact Sony's tech support.
2) Sony's a pain in the ass when it comes to chargers. If the battery drops down to dangerously low levels, it tends to shrink up and try and protect itself.
Your best bet is definitely going to be a good night's rest on a wall charger.
If you still are having trouble after that, then try this (Pasted from the MR Wiki) [specifically that relating to the PRS350/650]
Generally, any wall charger will work as long as it has a USB/MicroUSB port. Most cellphones use this connector, so any microUSB charger will work.
3) Most likely the battery in the unit is dead. A good long charge on a wall charger should be done, and then perhaps a reset will be needed.
Hope this is of help . Carpetmojo.

Back again, Alice - if you don't feel up to, or can't face it (me to!) tech-fiddling as above, I suggest you PM StartTheCar, who will sort this for you.
It does look like battery/recharging is the problem.

Dear Carpetmojo.
First of all thanks a lot for your answers and for your help.
Now it works, luckily but I explain anyway how it was.
The evening I discovered it was frozen I didn't press reset, I let it during the night (I tried to connect it to the computer and to the wall charger but it didn't react). The bactery was 3 points out of 4, so it was charged.
The following morning, nothing.
In the evening I tried the RESET pressing reset for 5 secs and den power button (as I read on the net).
It didn't react, itwas always on the same page.
Then, after at least 24 hours it was locked on a page, without going in stand-by, I tried again to connect it on the computer and IT WORKED!!!!!
It was unlocked!!! I left it all the night and then it was perfect again the following morning.
But, anyway, I am afraid this could happen again.
It is still under warranty but if it hppens again when it is no more under warranty?
The problem is that if I go to the shop where I bought it, it will be useless. They don't know anything. They are just retailers.
And I don't want to give them y e-book for 2/3 months risking that they'll give it back saying nothing was wrong.

I had a lot of problems with this reader also with not being able to read it outside in the daylight. Sony was so good and replaced it with a new 650. However the only way I am able to charge the battery is by connecting it to my computer. It won't charge with a plug in like the 505
