Xperia Z5 Audio and mic problems after swapping screen

Hi,
So my screen was damaged and after sending it for repairs people can't hear my voice on phonecalls unless I turn on the speaker phone option, I've already read similar posts here and tried various solutions to no avail, here's the general panorama:

1.- Mic works (on calls) when using the speaker phone option.
2.- Mic works when using mic equiped earbuds.
3.- Mic and speakers work fine when recording videos.
4.- Mic test works out ok when using headphones.
5.- Mic test fails without headphones.
6.- External Speaker test fails with and without headphones, even though I can listen to music normally (both upper and lower speakers work fine).
7.- Ear speaker test fails with and without headphones, though I can hear people on normal (not speaker phone) phone calls, they just can't hear me.
8.- All the other tests run fine.
9.- Smart Connect turns on when plugging headphones, if I unplug and plug them again it displays the notification properly.

I've tried the following:

1.- Clearing smart connect data, forcing stop and restarting.
2.- Booting in safe mode, the phone acts exactly the same.
3.- Upgrading Android to 7.0 (this was more or less inevitable).
4.- Changing my wallpaper though I had no live (or is it active?) wallpapers installed.

Reading other posts around the net I've come across a solution having to do with the flex cable for the power and volume buttons (related in previous models to the mic) being damaged, I'm not sure if in the Xperia Z5's case the mic or ear speaker have to do anything with said cable but I'm dubious because both power and volume buttons work ok in tests and in normal usage.

Any suggestions? I'm kinda desperate.

Regards

Hello, @AlexMx

What you need to try now is performing a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory, which will help us rule out any software issues. Follow the steps given in the blue link, do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable.

Don't forget to backup using Xperia Companion, but don't backup setting or apps.

Thanks, I'll try that and report back with the results.

I just did the software repair and here are my results:

Points 1 thru 5 stayed the same, my mic still doesn't work on normal calls.

Points 6 and 7 (external and ear speakers) test just fine.

Everything else stayed as before the repair.

I forgot to mention the lower mic was replaced after I first noticed the issue (after the screen swap), so I'm ruling out it being a hardware issue (on the mic).

Hi, did you ever get this resolved? I'm having the same problem, and I've changed mic/ear speaker a couple of times now.  Im going to have to change my phone although there is no other problem with it. Thanks
