Why No More Wifi Where it Was?

For well over a year I had no trouble getting wifi internet from inside the office building where I work.

But less than two weeks ago my ISP disappeared from the Z3's mobile network list and so more web service. I asked USMobile Support who said it must be a problem with Optimum wifi. But Optimum returns and works fine as soon as I exit the building. Then US Mobile said my plan's memory is empty. They added 300mb for free. But still no wifi. Then they said to make sure Z3's Android 6 is configured as shown https://www.usmobile.com/help/knowledge-base/configuring-your-device/

I do that and wifi is back. But next day same problem. I checked those new settings I had entered but all are the same. Bu when I'm in the building the phone keeps saying "Mobile Data Limit Exceeded" Then I go outside the building and wifi is back again. Normally, my plan is 2GB of data. But how can it be a low data problem if wifi works outside the building? And coworkers who also have Optimum are only a few yards away from me inside the building and they have no wifi problems. And my phone works fine as usual. Please advise.

I'm sorry about the issue but I'm a bit confused are you referring to wireless data or WiFi ?

if you are referring to WiFi, Does your phone work with other WiFi networks?

At first I assumed that at least some data was always consumed when using wifi internet, but web searches show that once you’re online data is only consumed from apps that you may be using when online-or those that may be running in the background. But I don’t use my phone or any apps all that much and hardly ever while online.

I uninstalled nearly all of the apps that I never use and disabled the rest that I don’t use but which Sony, rightly or wrongly, prevents us from uninstalling. But after restarting the phone I still got the same “exceeded data” limit message.

But I made none of these changes to the phone until this week, while for at least 10 months

prior I had no problems getting wifi from deep inside the office building.

All I can think of is seeing what happens when I buy another 2GB of data from US Mobile.

Comments?  Suggestions?

No, adding 2GB didn't get me to my ISP. I just don't see how my coworker inside of this building only a few yards away has no problems get Optimum wifi-and why I used to but don't anymore!! I checked the Z3 manual and enabled/disabled all the settings that might help/impede wifi but no good.

Hi @tyner,

Do I understand correctly that you are not able to see the Wi-Fi network that you have at your job in Settings > Wi-Fi in your device? If that is the correct, are you able to see / connect to other Wi-Fi networks with your Xperia Z3? Just trying to figure out if the device is able to find Wi-Fi networks at all, or if it is just this network that it won't find any longer.

You can try and reset the network settings in your device by following the instructions below, but keep in mind this will delete all paired Bluetooth connections, all saved Wi-Fi networks.

Settings > Backup & reset > Network settings reset > RESET SETTINGS > restart the device.

Let us know if that helps!
