Hi @springwv, I'm glad to hear that it is working now again, however you should not have to press the back cover and the power button to be able to use these keys, so I would recommend that you get in touch with your Local support team so they can arrange a repair for you, if you should experience this behaviour again.

@Jonas

You've got jokes!

Sony doesn't support this phone for anyone that has a gray market version... so that is pretty much like what this whole thread is about. We're soliving this issue without the help of Sony.

z5-connector.PNGBelieve it or not, this is the only tip that actually worked after the entire right side buttons (volume, camera, fingerprint/power/screenshot button stopped working. I need to apply pressure from the back (through the case) while pressing the buttons, which is the only way they work now. After backing up my data, I'll open the case to fiddle around a bit. Thanks for the great advice. Btw, works on Xperia Z5 Premium.

Holy sh*t the pinching actually worked! My phone died for no reason the day AFTER the warranty expired! This is the second Sony to do this to me. Sony would do absolutely nothing for me , neither would my provider...Bell.

Bell wanted me to pay out the remaining $355 I had on the phone, which I couldn't afford at Christmas. So my phone has just been sitting for a few weeks. Came across this picture and thought..hmm..let's give it a shot. Sure enough..applied pressure, pushed power and tada I have a phone again! Annnnd it's just like new! The volume button and power button are working again as well.

Thank you very much for this post! You just saved me a bunch of money and helped me feel safer about being home with a sick baby and having access to calling in an emergency.

Bless you kind soul!

For everyone had or gonna have this problem (one or all of the physical buttons stopped working or if UR fingerprint won't show up or unavailable " here is the solution :

First of all unfortunately, the problem is common in this device, but the solution is easier than u think

It's not a software problem don't u guys bother format it.

U should simply do the following

1. REMOVE ANY BACK COVER/PHONE CASE

2. PUT UR PHONE ON THE GROUND OR on ANY STEADY SURFACE AND GENTLY PRESS UR both THUMBS ON ITS BACK THEN SLIDE UR  FINGERS  together while pressing to COVER THE WHOLE phone BACK...

And that's it

There is a small hardware piece which keeps moving if a fall or a hit happens to the phone, if that didn't work for the first time u should judt do it again

Don't take it to any repair shop and don't let them open UR phone

GOOD LUCK

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful idea that really solved the problem in a way I never thought. Apparently, someone else under this discussion has also given the same remedy, but this is the first one so I want more people having the same problem to see it.

I tried pressing moderately over the screen side and the back side of my Z5P, then my power button, camera button as well as the vibration came back!!!! Amazing!!

I am Chinese but living in France now. And this problem just happened when I put my cell phone in my pocket without getting it hurt (I am pretty sure). I could not find any sony center nearby and no mobile fix point provides any service for me. I was planning to prevent the mobile from running out of battery so that I could still use it with the double tap function. But it was really despairing to think that what if in case it shuts down and I will never turn my mobile on again in a foreign country.

Thanks again to all nice guys sharing the solutions here.

Unbelieveable.... This worked.

So, I figured out the spot to pinch all on my own. I was on my way here to tell you all that... Then i see this fix. It sounds so dumb, but i try it. And bam... it worked!

Just place your phone on a table. and press and slide firmly on the back. It somehow reconnected for me. Thanks!

Thanks for that I was having the same problem as everyone else here and you said you slapped the back of your phone and it started working, so I slapped the back of mine on my desk and pow everything started working perfect, now I wonder how long this will last LOL.  Who say hitting it won;t help.

Thanks Dwaine
