Android 6.0.1 update unable to format SD card as internal memory can't move app to SD card

I just updated to Android 6.0.1 last night and I realized many things has changed. I can't access my apps store on the SD card from Android 5.1.1. I was able to move the apps to the SD card on 5.1.1 to free up some internal memory. The Marshmallow update supposed to have a better feature. It can mount the SD as internal memory provided I have to formated as internal memory. I bee playing around with my phone all day and I realized on the Sony release, they do not have this feature. I been YouTubeing around and found that within 6.0.1 in the settings /storage/SD card sub-menu, there should be 3 options. Eject, Format, and Format to internal memory. That's what I'm missing. Also if u insert the SD card for the first time, it should pop up a notification asking you what to do with the SD card. It didn't ask me. This is a known feature with marshmallow. My phone only have 16g, it won't hold all my apps, that was the reason why I move some apps to SD on Android 5.1.1. So what's going on?

I also factory reset my phone and format my SD again on my computer, it still don't work. It only treats it as a portable storage.

But now problem in marshmallow is that m not able to transfer my app which can be transferred to sd card
What could be the reason for that can i know

I really hate this kind of decision.

What if a user prefer to lose some performance but take benefice of the great comfort of having a larger internal memory?

Why don't just let the user decide how they balance their priority? A warning while activating this option would have been sufficient.

I am very disapppointed.

I own a XPERIA Z3 under ANDROID 6 with 16GB internal memory.
It is possible to move (some) apps to external storage!
Go to system parameters/internal storage
Click (in turn!) on each app icon.
If the app may move to external storage, you will have then the possibility to select which memory you want to move the app to (internal/SD card)...
Hope this helps...

Just wait until the apps you have moved to the SD card update. After update you will find your apps back into the internal storage and then you have to move them back to the SD card one by one! And this will happen everytime the apps on your SD card get updated.

SONY

Instead of disabling a great feature, devs should at least try and build code that blocks any cards that do not comply with the speeds they require. For example if a user inserts an SD card that is class 'Lame' which lacks in performance, then the option to use SD card as internal storage is disabled in the GUI. But if a user inserts an SD card class 10 superior in performance then the option is enabled for the user.

Really frustrating getting back from the store with a class 10 card and then finding out knowing that sony has disabled the option for not trying hard enough.

That's always been the case since Android 5. some apps allow you to move to SD and once updated, Particial, not all of the data from the same app are stored back into internal memory.  Next time when you update an app on SD, before you move it again, take a look at the data size on internal and external. I believe it's just the updated portion of the data is store back into internal until you move it again.

However in Android 5, under the app setting, there was a specific tab just for all the apps on the external memory. you can easily select that and move all the apps that can be movable. In Android 6, this tab has been removed. you have to through each app to move it again.

it's frustrating, I agree. Sony can easy give us the ability to mount the SD as external, but they removed that feature.

Now the Google Pixel is out, and it has no SD option, I'm a little torn why Google themself don't use this feature. hummm??

if you are having these issues, just for testing purpose, I would reset the phone back to factory default, then format the SD card, of course, backup all your data first. apps you an get back. if all else fail, call Sony.

Mine seem to run fine, just a pain trying to move it back and forth when ever the app is updated.
