Mobile Data Usage???

My phone uses Mobile Data EVEN though when I am connected to WI FI with Mobile Data disabled??

Everytime my phone goes to sleep or locks the screen, it seems like it uses Mobile Data in the background, but my WI FI is enabled?? Sometimes when I unlock my screen, I get a notification telling me that my Mobile Data is Disabled ... but I never did enable it because my WI FI is on 24/7

This morning, after I woke up, I got a SMS from my service provider, telling me that my Data has been used up? When before I went to bed, I left my WI FI on, my phone at my bedside with Data Disabled ... It used a whole 60MB over night??

Hi @Sparky862,

Go to Settings > Data Usage > 3 Dots > Restrict background data.

Please be aware that in doing so you may receive delayed notifications from apps that require data.

Thank you .... So how do I remove the notification now telling me that my background data is restricted?? I can not remove that warning of my screen now?

If I decide to enable my Mobile Data when I am on the go and not near a WI FI spot, should I enable this again?? Or can I always leave it disabled?

@Sparky862,

In the current system you can't. Modern phones and apps that are made for it generally require a constant data connection.

It is up to you if you wish to have your data enabled all the time, it depends on how you use it.

 I am not sure I understand you. If I restrict my background data, I am still able to enable my Mobile Data and use it as I wish normaly??

Or each time I disable my Mobile Data I also have to disable Background Data??

 You can leave your Mobile Data on. Turning it off and on won't affect the apps that are restricted anymore than it's restriction already restricts it from doing.

If you want to go next level restriction - go restrict everything. Then restrict location services. Then turn off Google Nearby. Then restrict Facebook from doing anything.

What disabling background data does is: only allow the application to access data services when it is currently the application that has focus/the only application running fullscreen/the application you are currently using

This means, for example: you won't automatically receive email notifications unless you actively go to the app an hit refresh, or hit refresh on the widget

But something is still wrong. My phone enables its Mobile Data by itself and uses it even though my WI FI is enabled 24/7. I would leave my phone, wake up, and find a notification that my Mobile Data is disabled, when it was never enabled before?? I go to my Data Usuage, and apps has accessed my Mobile Data, yet my WI FI is on??
