4K playback - How I can do it?

Hi,

Trying to playback 4k videos on the sony xperia Ultra XA, F3216, but unuble to do so.

When trying to play back from the built-in album app, I have a black screen saying 4k, but when playing it back I have a also a black screen.

When trying to play it back using goprovr, it will just refuse to play it back.

Playing back 2K VR or normal 16:9 standart video files it plays them ok.

I just can't belive that this thing can't play 4k video files.

You could try MX player and run the videos in HW+ decoding mode.

Worth remembering that the XA is on the lower end spec wise so performance will be limited somewhat for 4k support

Two years ago, I bought a xiomi 4C, for the same price this new sony "phone" has cost me now, with 4K capture, and 4k VR playback, gyroscope and a lot of other options.

It never crossed my mind that two years later, sony would lunch a new 6" HD phone with dual sim cards, dedicated microsd expansion card, without the capability to play back 4k videos and without a gyroscope.

From the specifications it says it has a compass, but I can't find any built-in app compass.

As far as I'm concern, from my short experience, this is a very big joke from a company with a huge presence in the capture, editing and distribution of media content.

In short, I have a nice great looking piece of junk in my hands.

Big, big difference between xiaomi and any other flagship prices.
I can get a xiaomi mi5 with better specs than galaxy S7 (which it copies) for around 200 less than the Samsung.
It simply the Chinese market vs the western market.
As said by alexdon 4k playback will be possible, through mx player app and other media apps

Tanks for the tip regarding the mx player, never heard of it  before, funny that zoom option on the video, it does play 4k files at 60MB CBR.

1. VR doesn't need the gyroscop function, only is needed if you are using cardbox or something sililar.

Also in mobile environment is quite nice to move the telephone sidewyas or up and down and the image moves.

However, you can have see diferent perspective by sliding the screeen.

2. MX player does plays 4k video in flat mode, not VR mode.

3. Tried the following apps, none of each are able to play 4kVR mode.
