WinDVD reinstallation?

Hey guys,

I had to replace the harddrive of my vaio vgn-fw21e a while ago and used windows 7 home premium instead of the originally installed windows vista version. Since then my optiarc bd c 5500S hasn't been able to read blu rays anymore. I suspect it's because I don't have a version of the old bd software installed but when i try my old recovery dvd's to get the old windvd version it can't complete the installation.

I really don't want to pay for a new software.is there any way to reinstall the old one, or at least find the old serial number?

I hope someone can help me out!

Hi markuffe,

You don’t make it clear whether you are trying to install just WinDVD from the recovery disks or attempting a complete recovery.

Due to licensing restrictions WinDVD can only be reinstalled as part of a full recovery. If it is a complete recovery you are attempting and this fails part way through then you may need to purchase a new set from Support. Before doing so you could try cleaning the disks or burn a duplicate copy as this occasionally will resolve the problem.

Alternatively, if it is the recovery media that is faulty, it may possibly be cheaper to purchase a retail copy of WinDVD or other software that supports BD.
