The receivers standby modes are all switched off.
The TV's HDMI sync features are switched off as I don't want the receiver auto switching on every time I watch TV. Firmware is up to date on both units.
The issue I'm having is, when the TV is turned on from standby the receiver makes a loud clunk noise. This also happens when turning the receiver on/off.
Can anyone tell me if I have a faulty unit? Or if there's a way to stop this?

Yes I am well aware of your position.
This what you wrote in your first post,
"The issue I'm having is, when the TV is turned on from standby the receiver makes a loud clunk noise. This also happens when turning the receiver on/off.

So from your first sentence you are saying that when you turn on the TV it is automatically switching the receiver on.
To stop that happening I have told you three times if you go into the Sound settings in your TV and set Audio System Prioritisation to OFF your TV will no longer automatically switch the receiver on.
If you have Home Theatre Control on you may wish to turn that off.
Have you done this?
If so has it made a difference?
We have previously discussed that receivers do make noises on power up and switching off, which you agreed with, so the noise is not abnormal behaviour and would not point to a faulty unit.
I guess the only gauge for this would be to see another TA-AN1000 in action and determine whether your particular box is making an unusually loud noise on power up.
Hello again, your still not getting it. Please stop you're not being helpful.
I presume that the amp is in standby, connected somehow to the TV (HDMI cable?) when you switch the TV on and get the thump?
Try disconnecting any signal cables from the TV to the amp, one by one, and see if the thump stops.
If not, there is something wrong with your house mains (you are getting a pulse on it that shouldn’t be there), and you should get these inspected by a qualified electrician without delay.
Can you please post an audio recording of the clunk?
Yes that's correct, receiver is in standby connected to the TV with HDMI.
Not sure how to record and post the noise as I only have a phone to work with.
On the first issue, disconnect the HDMI cable from the TV, and then switch it on. This will tell you if the bang is triggered by the cable connection or by what happens on the mains when the TV is switched on.
On the second issue, take a video of the AV while making it make the bang, and post it here. We will understand why the picture is static 😛
The receiver doesn't make the noise with the HDMI disconnected. Great suggestion! 👍
I've taken a video of the receiver making the noise but don't know how to upload it sorry 😞
So now I've switched control for HDMI to off on the receiver and disabled the TV's Bravia sync. No noise from the receiver when switching on the TV!
Ok now I've gone into TV settings- External device setup, gone through this process, by the way this automatically switches the receivers HDMI control to on.
Switched everything off waited a few minutes, switched the TV on and "clunk" from the receiver!
I can only assume that the Bravia sync is causing the receiver to clunk when making the handshake between themselves!
