HT XT3 or similar units with down firing subwoofers...issue
Pretty much pleased with this unit but have one issue. Unfortunatly it is neccessary to have the TV and soundbase in a corner of the room on an oak table, this promotes bass boom. If I lower the bass output the higher frequencies become too 'edgy' or sharp. I cant get the right balance. I tried a thin soft pad positioned directly below the subwoofers, this helps to a degree but not enough to tenuate a tendancy to boom. I have the Bass setting on 8 / 9, if I go 7 the top end suffers with no mid range. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,
I would suggest to change the position of the woofer a little.
Probably you have kind of "standing waves" (not sure if this is the right translation) where the signal waves add to eachother. Changing the position might help to avoid this. Just try and experiment to find the correct place for the woofer.
Cheers

thanks for getting back to me Peter but the twin subwoofers are built-in to the XT3 soundbase and cant be repositioned without moving the whole thing plus TV... not an option Im afraid. John

Hi John,
Oh dear - sorry for the false advice - messed up the products in my head...
So unfortunately no additional advice from my side then.
Cheers
