Hello everyone,
I have a Sony CMT-CP555 micro HIFI system and for the most part it works great. However, both speakers audio will cut out randomly. Usually it is the left side speaker but it happens to the right side speaker too. So far I have tried spraying conatct cleaner into the speaker connection ports, the speaker connectors, re-crimped the cables and just hoped the issue would go away by itself! It only happens on a volume of about 4 or less but most times I don't have the stereo loud, especially when used at night it's normally on a volume of 2!
When the audio cuts out of the speaker(s) I have to turn the volume up on the stereo quite high (up to about a volume of 12) and the audio will come back. Usually though after a while, the audio will just cut out again once the volume is turned back down. I'm not sure what to do anymore but I don't really want to take apart anything if I can help it.
I did get into contact with Sony support but they said they wouldn't be able to do anything as the system is from 2004, so I'm on my own a bit here!
As I'm here and I remembered, I do have another issue if anyone knows. The tape deck on the stereo works fine but the first playing only deck doesn't allow me to switch playback sides of the tape, only the second recording and playback deck. It's not a big deal as I don't use tape cassettes much anymore and the second side works fine but if anyone knows anything that'll also be great!
Thank you everyone
Sounds like the speakers may be incompatible, unless you're using the ones that came with the system?
