Who fancies diagnosing this fault?

A friends Sony KDL-43W756 has just this evening started playing up and presenting this odd screen distortion?

TV was bought back in April 2016 and has a total of only 370 days use (according to the TV tech who came to quote for repair)

Anyone fancy diagnosing this by the picture?

could be a fancy software issue - have you tried a factory reset?

Yeah that was done twice this evening as well as a fresh update. Unfortunately made no difference. TV tech is talking in the first instance about a token board that may or may not fix the problem. 120 quid right out the gate for something that 'might' work. Doesn't sound good!!
