Hello!
I've noticed that the Xperia devices are not that popular around here, but I would like to survey a bit. I just bought the new XZ3 and it has been a real pleasure to use it having used the S9+ and other flagships also.
What are your opinions on Sony smartphones and have you ever owned one?
Sony's phones are those who provide the best Android experience IMHO. Builds are usually working great and have seen its been the case for a lot of Sony's phones and tablets I still own or owned (Tablet Z and Z2, Z3 Compact, Z5 Compact, M4 Aqua, XZ1, though for this last one Android Pie users are left in the dust for a bunch of bugs we don't expect in a stable release).
Build quality and design (especially compacts line and those practical bezels which most 'follow-trends-sheeps' disparate, allow holding comfortably the phone for a long time) makes me keep using their phones.
I switched from iPhone to Sony recently and LOVE my Xperia XZ3. Would never go back! It looks great, is super reliable and the camera's brilliant.

Well is not 100% correct opinion, most here users are fan of Sony, i'm too. Just after a lot of years if talk about me i waiting from Sony something really special like doing Huawei or maybe Samsung, which actually my opinion just copying from others, but i can't say all features, but these which i really like they copied from Sony, Huawei and ect. So Sony's probably all we like, just sometimes we don't like all models which releasing Sony or result which soing these models. But maybe i'm alone in this
I wanted the xperia 1 because of the form factor mostly and so far I like it a lot. I have some gripes but I knew what I was buying. Only hope that people talk enough about the issues and Sony cares enough to fix or update through software if possible.
I really don't like notches, I am tired of buying expensive phones that die or have hardware problems within or slightly after a year. Through doing my research on android phones and brands, Sony has a good history of supporting the OS and they have a small but dedicated base using it for a long time and people are generally happy with it, like most iphone users.
The phones are well built , components lasts, etc.
Hopefully this xperia 1 will have the same history.
There are trade offs to every phone and oddities for each phone.
