My KD-55X8509C wont turn on - even after a soft reset - any ideas please?

Hi, My KD-55X8509C wont turn on - even after a soft reset (power off and remove power plug from socket for over 2 minutes).

The light comes on at the bottom of the screen after pressing the power button for several seconds but then after approx 20 seconds it goes back off. The screen is completely blank throughout so I don't believe I can access self diagnostics or anything. I tried the power on the back of the unit as an alternative to the remote but no difference. Tried Ariel connected and disconnected no difference. Any ideas please?
