How to turn off the startup sound/chime?

How can I turn off or disable the sound/chime/dongle the alerts me every time I turn on my Sony KDL-46EX500? This is every annoying since I have three small kids and they are sometime asleep when I want to use my TV.

One option is to try to remember to mute the TV before turning it off.

I have updated my TV with the latest version of the software, but it did not help. Anyone that can help?

Hi Stefan, have not got that particular model but on my Sony you turn it off by going to > Home then > Sound, then scroll down to Key Tone and switch it off....... regards brian

Try this...

Go to the Home menu..

Then browse to Settings..

Followed by Sound..

In the Sound menu scroll down & click on Start up..

Select “Off” and this should turn off the TV start-up sound..:smileywink:

Sorry, I do not have the menu choice called "Start up" under my "Sounds" setting meny I'm running software version PKG4.104EUL-0108

Oops my mistake..:smileyblush:

Go to the Home menu..

Then browse to Settings..

Followed by Sound..

In the Sound menu click on Key Tone..

Select “Off” to turn off the sound and this should also turn off the TV start-up sound..

I don't have start up option or key tone option. I just have sound mode. Nothing else to shut this noise off

My TV didn't have a startup sound turn off option either. I ended up updating the software with a USB from Sony support downloads under my model info. area.

After the update, I now have the option to turn on/off Startup sound as others described.
