It'll stop recording (with an error message) if it does. &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The battery pack in particular will get hot with prolonged use, which is quite normal. I'd suggest you keep the camera in a cool place wherever possible, as high ambient temperatures will certainly play a part. Shield it from the sun if it's on a tripod, for example. &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Sony warrant HDR cameras operating at up to 40ºC and in practice I wouldn't worry too much if it regularly reaches such temperatures.
