I don't think the SR5 is designed to be used as a PVR.

As you have spotted all the connections are outputs of Composite/Compnent/HDMI designed to transfer your video to TV/DVD/VCR/PC.

You can copy recorded video on the recorder's HDD using the USB connection on the docking unit but this would probably have to be in MPEG-2 or AVCHD format and copied from a PC as data.

Does know the answer to this questions please. You could save me £200.

I am annoyed at currys for misselling this product to me. They told me that I could connect the camera to my TV & record directly to my camera. I know I should of tried when I first bought the camera, that way I could of take it back because I cant record directly from the TV .

There is an AV out, but no AV IN on the docking station. Is it possible to buy anything that would alow me to record from my TV, like AV splitters? I want to use it as a capture card so I dont have to buy the HD PVR.

Sorry for ther noob question. I wouldnt of asked, but I cant find the answer in my manual either.

Thanks in advance
