Exporting Video from a Sony DCRSR78ES Handycam Camcorder

I am considering buying a DCRSR78ES camcorder. I want to be able to send the video to a PC for editing in Sony Vegas. The manual covers all sort of 'exporting' to the web, external HD, DVD using a Sony DVD device, but nowhere does it mention exporting directly to a PC.

There is nothing in the manual about this (are Sony using a proprietary MPEG2 format.? Or is it so obvious that they don't think it worth a mention!!

Yes - it uses MPEG2.

If you go to the support page for your model, you will find a Tutorial on transfering movies to a computer (PC & Mac)
