But for them to decide whether it's consumer fault or not the headset needs to be inspected. So, I would recommend that you call them again to address this.

Sony WH1000 XM5 Hinge flaw

My Sony WH-1000XM5 hinge failed after exactly a year of normal use. Unfortunately the left swivel genuinely but surprisingly fell apart on my head a few days ago when I took it off my head. I was genuinely in shock to see how easily a £300 headphone failed. I tried to reach out to Sony to address the issue and they said that I’d need to pay for a repair because it was customer misuse……. I don’t mistreat anything I own and took great care of this headphone especially as expensive as it is. The best solution I got from Sony was that I should pay for a repair because of their obvious design flaw. The hinge is very vulnerable and is an issue that comes up time and time again. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to purchase them at all especially because Sony clearly don’t care and keeps trying to hush anyone with the issue. I used these to work and I’ve had to pause a lot of work to deal with this with little to no help.
