I use Microsoft Project when I systematize data on contractors and customers.

And for a long time I used the outdated version of 2010, because I was used to it and considered it comfortable. Everything was fine, but recently after an unsuccessful upgrade of Windows 10, I found that Project began to open with numerous errors. I tried to fix everything by updating the program, and this helped with errors. But now I was touched by another problem - all the changes that I have made recently or not preserved, or open with incomprehensible symbols in the updated version of Project. What can I do with this? Is the data really lost?

Hi @NovaOchoa,

the issue you are experiencing doesn't sound like it is necessarily specific to Sony VAIO notebooks.

I recommend to get in contact with Microsoft.

Re-create a whole new file from the corrupted/bloated file, if you don't know, how to repair microsoft project file mpp:

1. Open a new blank project file

2. Go to Insert/Project and insert the problem file.

3. Select the first task which will be the insertion point summary line.

4. Go to Project/Task Information/Advanced tab.

5. Uncheck the "Link to Project" button and hit "OK".

6. If the file isn't already expanded, expand it.

7. Select all tasks below the top level summary line.

8. Outdent the selected tasks.

9. Delete the first task which previously was a summary line.

10. Save the resulting file.
