Hello, I have KD-49XE7002 tv and soundbar mt-300. Can't find the way how to control volume with tv remote, now have to use soundbar remote for volume. Thanks

Hi Ginttas,

as far as I am concerned optical gives just the audio data but can't forward commands (volume control) like HDMI can (with it's inbuild ethernet).

So I would say it is technically impossible.

But some guys using soundbars with optical conecctions and for them everything works fine

Hi @Ginttas,

maybe they were using a different (universal) remote or the TV controlled their soundbar via WiFi or Bluetooth.

Unless you have seen a person with the same TV (and remote) control the same soundbar you own, I don't think there is a way to do so.

At least with just an optical connection you can't control an audio device with a playback device.
