Sony A9 focus problems

I have a Sony A9 with 200-600 lens. When I focus on a bird about 30 feet away all is ok. I then focus on a bird 60 feet away, againg all ok. When I return to the first bird at 30 feet it will not lock on the focus. Im set to AF-C. Ive tried all the limit settings on the lens and all the focus settings in camera from Wide to Focus point with tracking. Any help appreciated.

Try resetting the Camera with the Lens connected.

Did a full reset as suggested but still the same. Sending lens and camera to Sony repair centre. Thanks for your help.
