Xperia 10 ii speaker problem

Just bought this so am hoping that it is easily fixed. When I'm in a call the ear piece speaker is silent and the sound comes out of the bottom of the phone. I tried a speaker test and both speakers work.

Any ideas anyone??

Hi, try to enable your device on safe mode and check if the same thing is happening or not, as the safe mode disable all 3rd party apps ,you will be able to know if the issue is caused by one of them or not. If it's the same in safe mode just exit safe mode and give the software repair by the Xperia companion a try it could solve the issue. I guess if all of that didn't work with you , you'll just need to contact Sony then

You'll laugh at this but what is a third party app?? I've done a factory reset and this worked for a while but then it happened again. I've done another reset and only loaded apps I use regularly. Seems to be ok but am about to load a Google update now. Fingers crossed

No joke though, some terminologies aren't for all, 3rd party app means it's installed and wasn't already preinstalled on the phone when it came.

A factory reset is the right step to take in any general issue such as this. If the issue goes on, try the software repair.

All seems to be ok now. I reckon it was a bad combination of apps. Either that or the Google update sorted it. I won't be loading up all the same apps tho. Most almost never got used. Valuable lesson learnt here.
