Middle of screen unresponsive on some apps

Hi!

Trying to press the middle of the screen on Facebook and WhatsApp I find that the homescreen is unresponsive. However works fine on other apps.

Doing a drawing test is appears that the middle of the screen cannot be used. It's a perfect middle bar, anyone else seen this before? Or how to fix?

Hi @Deanfp, welcome to the community.

It seems to be an issue with some sort of overlay setting. It is likely caused by either Facebook or Whatsapp, or whatever other app the issue is happening on.

Can you please test your phone in safe mode and see if the same issue occurs.

Booted in safe mode and facebook (stock app) is still the same. Could it be pixel damage?

I am new to Android, I have seen some guides on PC software that can repair the phones software but I use a Mac. Any alternative?

Because it only happens on some apps it seems unlikely that it is a hardware fault.

Here is a guide to perform a software repair using Xperia Companion, it will work on Mac too. Make sure you back up first, but this may resolve the issue for you.
