Xperia X Fingerprint not available

I have a German Xperia X. My fingerprint Sensor worked good in the last days/weeks, but since today i cant chose the Fingerprint to unlock my phone. The Option is away...

I also restarted my phone, but the Option is still away...

What can i do?

try to boot in safe mode, or run Xperia diagnostics.

if it works then it means there is an app preventing you using the fingerprint scanner if not try to perform software repair using Xperia Companion

Welcome to the community.

When you say the option is away, what do you mean?

If you go to Settings > Lock Screen & Security, is the Fingerprint Manager there?

Hi @AlexRogerio,

Welcome to the community.

Unfortunately, the US version of the Xperia X does not contain a fingerprint sensor.

@AndreasKemper,

That's strange. Have you updated your phone recently? You can try running a software repair to re-install the firmware.

Nope, I didn't updated it in the last days, but the latest updates are installed. I will try the software repair... I hope it works then 🙂

I was too lazy to reinstall the Firmware but after a few weeks and a few restarts, the Fingerprint Option came back and finaly I can unlock my phone with it again 🙂

I recieved an Xperia X for christmas from amazon and the product page says that it is a UK version phone but ever since I first powered it on there has been no fingerprint management in the security settings page. I did run the system updates to 6.0.1 before I went playing through the phone so I am wondering if that removed it? I don't know if the option was there before I updated it. Any help would be appreciated as this was my main selling point on this phone and I live in the UK

I had the problem of the fingerprint hardware not being available. I didn't want to reset my phone. It actually worked for the first couple of weeks, then it worked sometimes and then it didn't work at all.

So, what I did was this2
Go to Settings>Apps
Select Show System from the top menu
Scroll down and find these two items:
1 - com.fingerprints.serviceext
2 - Fingerprints ASM

Click on each one and click Storage

Once in there, click Clear Data

Exit Settings once you have done that for both items, reboot and with any luck, your fingerprint hardware will be available again.

This worked for me, although I also Force Stopped them, but that's probably not necessary.

Hopefully anyone who has fingerprint issues can resolve it by following the above procedure.

Oh, and I'm running 6.0.1

Hi!

I'm running same issue on my X (F5121 1302-6122_R5C), there is no entry for fingerprint manager in security settings, also no entry in service menu -> tests. My phone is from Sweden, latest SW - 34.2.A.0.292 - Nougat.

Is anyone having this issue?

EDIT:

Repairing SW in Xperia Companion doesn't help.

Cleaning data of com.fingerprints.serviceext and Fingerprints ASM do nothing too.

??? But this is E5121 which have fingeprint scanner...

Digging logcat again. This time try start something with Activity Launcher..
