Nougat - picture resolution

Hi everyone,

My 2nd major issue with the new Android 7 update (after the quick settings menu being ruined with additional presses needed to turn mobile data on/off) is that in the Album app, higher resolution pictures take a looong time to "load". So, the picture is blurry with no detail, and it takes abt 5 seconds or more for the picture to be "processed" and shown normally with details. I have no idea where this slowness has come from!

Has anyone else noticed this? It's especially annoying when you take a few pics of a certain thing and then want to cross check to see which is best, or when you want to just zoom in on a picture...

Hi @Prince13, I have the same problem so I use Google Photos. I hope sony update Album app asap.

@MacMux I forgot to say, I also have to wait abt half a second for instagram pictures to "load". Definitely wasn't there before. So I'm guessing it's the OS' processing, not the Album app...

New software update 292 and the problem keeps... Sony, are you going to solve this issue?

I'm experiencing the same problem.

After zooming in, it takes 5 - 10 seconds for the photos to load.

Album problems Nougat

I have noticed that the rendering of the photos takes a long time with Nougat. And there is always a micro lag at second 00:01 of each video I watch. Saved in the Micro SD (UHS II U3) or internal memory, even the video "sample" by Sony. Anyone with these problems? Obviously I'm talking about Album app.

usually this the case of the image enhancements kicking in.

try to disable the image enhancments (x-reality or super vivid mode) , to see if you still experience this lag.

Same problem here, would a factory reset solve? 34.2.A.0.311

Ive only ever had this firmware and so got the phone recently, was it like this on previous? And only affect the compact?

its not only for compact,it affects all nougat phones,nougat suks big time!they killed battery,iti is laggy.... i am very disappointed in sony,if they dont do something fast,thay will lose milions of users worldwide!

I'm glad it's not only me that's experiencing this problem. I thought my albums was on the blink cos it takes to long to lead and focus properly.

Can Sony give us an update on this issue please?

I use my phone to take a lot of pictures, and it is driving me up the wall!!

I take a photo, view it in the Album app and sometimes have to wait up to 30 seconds for the image to process and go from a blurry mess into something a bit clearer. You can even see the picture enhancing slowly in different places as you look at it, it's not good enough.

It's also not good enough to suggest disabling the Sony Vivid Image enhancement - this feature has been on Xperias for years and I've never had to disable it before, so are Sony going to fix this or what??

Any news about this problem?

I waited 4 months to update my X Compact from Marshmallow to Nougat and I regret it.

I tried to do a reset of my phone and to repare with Xperia Companion but still the photos are sooooooooooooooooo slow to fully display, it is very annoying...

It's a little bit quickly when I disable X-Reality but still too slow compared to before...

It works well with Google Photos but it's not the Album... well maybe I won't have the choice but it's really annoying...

Please Sony, do something

A little update...

Same problem when I open the photos from the camera app (I think it uses Album), they are very long to fully charge...

It is very annoying because I use it very often to check / show the picture(s) recently taken...

Come on Sony, this problem only happens with your apps, no problem with other apps (camera + photos viewer)

I have the same problem. I replaced my galaxy s6 for this xperia X compact because I wanted a smaller phone with better battery life. I've only had it a few weeks and I'm very disappointed with the images. I take a photo and when I view it, it takes an age to process it from a seemingly low res blur to a full resolution image. I'm considering returning the phone, it's that bad. I also find when I open the camera I get vertical lines moving across the screen, like the shutter speed can't keep up.
