Phone only charges up to 88% when off

I leave my phone (turned off) charging all night and every time I turn it on the battery shows 88% (although led light is green). Then I leave it on, plugged in for 30 minutes, and battery level goes up to 100%. It always happens the same.

It seams impossible to fully charge the battery while phone is off. Is that normal?

Can you try other chargers or USB cables and see if the same happens?

I could, but the very same cable and charger work fine to charge the battery to 100% when the phone is on. I don't think they are the problem. They are the charger and cable that came with the phone, by the way.

Yeah I agree, but it's a strange problem because logically phone will charge faster and more fully when switched off, so eliminating the possibility of a defected charger/cable will help troubleshooting. Other possibilities can be software and this may suggest that you try reinstalling your software and go through the process of backing up etc.

Just give it a shot and repair your device, that will help narrowing down possible causes.
