Hi - I use the GStrings tuning app for my bass. I noticed that a friend had an adaptor which allowed him to plug his guitar directly into his phone for tuning rather than relying on the phone's mic. I found an adaptor here https://www.petersontuners.com/shop/item/Adaptor-Cable-for-Mobile-Devices

but it says it'll work on Andriods only if audio in is supported via the jack socket. Does anyone know if it is on the Xperia E5, of has anyone else got an adaptor which will do the job?

I have now received the information that I requested and the Xperia E5 supports audio in via the 3.5 mm audio jack, through the microphone signal pin.

However, do note that Sony does not warrant or guarantee the performance of any third-party hardware. Neither is Sony not responsible for any damage or reduced performance of your device attributable to the use of third-party hardware.

So if you can try the accessory before buying it to make sure that it works, that would be the best alternative.
