Not able to update or download apps

I'm not able to downlaod or update any apps on my Experia E1. It says that the internal stoage is full but I have an SD card and it doesnt say that I can switch the data over to it. I have deleted and stopped programs but that still doesnt work.

It doesn't work like that, you meed to free up internal storage space, by deleting apps, music, videos, or pictures

Settings > storage > how much free space do you have available (internal storage)?

That's not enough, you need more than 500-600MB

Thought I'd clarify what the other poster was suggestion/indicating:

While you may not be able to install software apps on the SD card, very often your actual data such as music, photos etc can take up alot of phone storage. Those things can be saved to the SD card.
