My C4 is not recognized when i connect it to the laptop just charging only, i changed the cable and restart the both devices but still when i connect it to the laptop it just charging without open anything so i can move my data to the laptop !!

i tried all of this but nothing work, even i tried to connect the phone to PC and Laptop and still nothing it only charging but cant move files

Happening me today. My Pc will just charge my phone. Cant move files or use the tethering. Anyone any solutions? I tried a different phone in computer and it worked fine. Windows is updated and sony is sony companion

I'm too facing this issue, my phone doesn't get detected in my pc. I tried switching on the USB debugging mode as well. However, in-vain.

Can someone from the actual technical team (Sony support) reply with a working solution.

Hello everyone!

I'm sorry to hear about the troubles with your phones.

I just tried connecting an Xperia C4 to a computer running Windows 10 and I could not replicate the behaviour, I was able to both charge and access internal storage and the SD card using XC and Windows file browser.

Have your computers previously recognized the phones, and you have been able to browse for example, the internal storage?

If so, have you updated your phones or computers recently and after applying the update your computers are no longer able to recognize the phone apart from charging?

Can another computer access the phone using Xperia Companion or the regular file browser in Windows / Mac OS?

You can download Xperia Companion both for Windows and Mac OS.

Let me know how it went!

I'm sorry to hear that you are still experiencing this behaviour.

Have you had the possibility to try connecting your phone to another computer? If you have, was it recognized or not?

If it was not recognized I would recommend getting in contact with your Local support and they will assist you with having the phone sent in to an authorized service centre.

I have two computers running win 10 version 1511. I was able to stop and roll back on these two. Xperia Companion works beautiful on these two.

Two other computers, desk top and laptop are running version 1607 (Anniversary). None of these will connect to my C4 phone, my ZR phone, or my Z tablet.

The device manager shows a problem with the MTP driver and tells me it can't install because 'a service installation section in the INF is invalid'.

Of course Sony Chat only says to contact Microsoft (not our problem) and they have seen no other customers with the same problem (Really!)

Chat also says the drivers are downloaded automatically with Xperia Companion is downloaded?

Looks like I'll just have to keep a special computer if I ever want to use xperia companion again..

Any suggestions?

This worked after three hours of searching. Why would Sony not be able to help me?

step 1: right click on the device and click on its property
step 2: go to driver, then click on update driver
step 3: select on " Browse my computer for driver software locate and install driver software manually
step 4: ignore the browsing option and skip to "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"

Added by me: step 4A: Look for a category called 'mobile devices' and click on that one. (I believe it depends on whether the driver is there or not, or just screwed up. When you click it, you will probably see two possible drivers, then go for step 5.

step 5: you will get a list of compatible drivers, select on the 'MTP USB Device'

...... and there. your device will be recognized again and will go back to working properly!!

Nothing happend the same problem i try every thing but nothing working I download Xperia xc It didn't detect my phone at all

Have you had the time to try what @Bill1 suggested in this thread? If you haven't tried that I'd recommend doing so.
