Sony KD-55XD9305 - Black screen with vertical lines

Hi,

Last night while watching TV on my 4 year old Sony KD-55XD9305 a black ‘blob’ appeared in the centre of the screen.
The blob rapidly grew to cover the whole screen & with vertical lines (see images attached) filling the rest of the screen.

Can anyone tell me what this issue might be, whether it can be repaired - or if this is the end of this TV? Ideally I would get this repaired, rather than add to landfill …

Any advice would be welcome,

More than likely the panel has failed.

Depending on where you bought the TV it may still be covered under a multi year warranty.

It may be very expensive to repair and does not rule out other components of an older TV failing

in the future.

If buying a new TV some retailers offer a TV recycling scheme.
