Sony Bravia TV picture perfect until I watch football

I have had my Sony Bravia KD 55 XF9005 for around 18months. The picture is faultless when watching anything on HD channels. I have noticed though every time I watch football in HD the players are slightly blurry and can be frustrating to watch. I have tried changing settings to sport, the brightness and motion settings. I have been online and altered the settings to the recommended settings for sport but with no joy.

I have a 5 year old Panasonic TV which has a better picture when watching football.

Does anyone know what I can do if anything to correct this issue ?
