Subject contains the main point. I tried to resolve this by emailing Sony support through their support page but got no response. Maybe someone from Sony will see this?

Hi @xifips

Unfortunately this is a user community (not Sony). I have just tried registering a KD-49XF8796 and it found it immediately but that is in the UK. Note the “-“ is important while entering KD-49XF8796.

@LightFoot thanks for your help. I am aware that the hyphen is required, but it still doesn't appear for me. Other models with similar, but different names do appear as I type in the part number.
