Sony KD43X8309 4K TV - USB not recognised

I have recently bought a 43" Sony Bravia kd43x8309 4K TV and i am having trouble viewing files on a connected usb device. I have tried all 3 ports on the TV and I have also tried another usb device but i cannot view the contents of either.

I do get the message saying usb device connected but it shows no files are available to view?

I upgraded the TV from a 32" Sony KDL 32W654A TV that the same USB device worked fine on.

Am i doing something wrong?

If I connect the usb to my Sony blu ray player that is connected to the tv via hdmi cable I am able to view the contents of the usb device?

Please can you help me get this sorted so I can view contents of usb via tv usb connections.

Hi there

Im unsure if you have solved your problem, but im just going through a couple of older unanswered posts. The built in Video app doesnt seem to recognised many file formats and codecs, try using Kodi instead and see how you get on.
